At the Iowa Heartland History Connection we are so much more than a museum. When you give to the IHHC, you are supporting children’s education, historical research services, community event spaces, and community enrichment programs.
Support can come in many shapes and sizes, but they all make a difference, from membership, funding for exhibits and community engagement that awakens the curiosity of visitors, and giving your time as a volunteer, YOUR support makes a difference.
Our legal entity remains the Wapello County Historical Society and we do business as the Iowa Heartland History Connection. When including us in your legal documents, please use the Wapello County Historical Society as the legal entity name.
There are many planned giving approaches you can do now to support the Iowa Heartland History Connection and activities in the future. All have tax advantages. Here are some ways you can help today:
Note that your gift can come in any form, not just cash. Our endowment has received tremendous boosts from land, stocks, and various other gifts.
Donor Advised Funds (DAF) are the fastest-growing giving method to manage charitable donations. Donor Advised Funds allow donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend donations to non-profit organizations from their fund over time. Please note that per the Internal Revenue Code, you cannot receive goods, services, or impermissible benefits, like membership benefits, as a result of a DAF gift.
Clients of Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, and BNY Mellon can easily initiate fund dispersal through the DAF Direct window on this page. If your DAF is not listed, contact your DAF directly and reference our EIN: 42-1043823.
If you have any questions about donating to the Wapello County Historical Society through your DAF, please contact your donor membership program. Please note that the Society can not help you set up your DAF.
As part of our commitment to serving you better, the Iowa Heartland History Connection will be temporarily closed during January and February 2025.
This strategic decision allows us to focus on planning exciting new exhibits, refreshing our space, and preparing for a vibrant spring season! Historically, these months see lower visitor traffic, making it the perfect time to enhance your future museum experience.
Thank you for your support, and we can’t wait to welcome you back in March with even more to explore and enjoy!
